Public Safety
Chair of the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department Board for the past 2 years
Maintaining and improving rapid response times for Police and Fire
Continue neighborhood police patrols, keep our school campuses safe and secure
Enforce weed abatement, protecting Belmont from fire danger
Increase our robust community outreach programs, including Belmont Police Academy and Crisis Assessment Resource and Education (C.A.R.E.) Teams
Ongoing assessment of training and response procedures to continue to provide safety and equitable service
Infrastructure
Repaired dozens of Belmont streets as part of the Street Improvement Program; 2023-24 projects beginning Summer 2024 and more to come!
Repaved Ralston Ave in 2023 (link: San Mateo Daily Journal), ensuring its functionality for another 20 years while making it safer for bicyclists and pedestrians
Upgraded a significant portion of Belmont’s sewer infrastructure
Authorized funding for the Belmont Village Bike and Pedestrian Project, which will create new bike lanes, crossings, and routes, beginning in Downtown Belmont (link: San Mateo Daily Journal)
Economic Development
Welcomed new and current residents to Belmont with the completion or near-completion of 508 units of new housing, including 130 affordable units, with many more in the pipeline
Met and exceeded Belmont and state housing goals while preserving neighborhood character and revitalizing vacant downtown parcels (Site: San Mateo Daily Journal)
Cut the ribbon on Firehouse Square, a mixed-use housing development with 66 affordable units in the center of our city (site: San Mateo Daily Journal)
Began development of the Harbor Industrial Area Specific Plan to explore annexation of the Harbor Industrial Area into Belmont, which would increase overall employment and tax revenue
Leading discussions with Stanford University as they propose acquisition and development of the Notre Dame de Namur University campus on Ralston Avenue (link: San Mateo Daily Journal)
Strengthened partnerships with Chamber San Mateo County, business owners and residents in supporting my efforts to provide residents with the core services you expect and deserve.
Parks, Trails, & Recreation
Increased city programming and events for kids, including summer Camp SOAR and Inclusion Camp for children with disabilities, as well as for Belmont’s adults and seniors
Championed celebration of our cultural diversity including including the Pride Month flag raising, Diwali celebration, Lunar New Year festival, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Poetry and Essay Contest
Realizing our vision for a modern Belmont Community Center to provide our residents with safe, welcoming community spaces for years to come (link: San Mateo Daily Journal). Proudly serves as Council Liaison to the Belmont Community Center Foundation
Approved Belmont’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan (link: San Mateo Daily Journal), which created a 15 year roadmap for park maintenance and improvement
Keeping public areas healthy, safe, and clean. Maintain our amazing parks, trails and open spaces and ensure safety for hikers and all users
